The Injury Prevention SIG is a very active group of injury prevention trauma nurses interested in the promotion and advancement of injury prevention. The group currently meets on the fourth Monday of each month. If you are interested in participating, please complete the committee volunteer form.

Valerie Pelin Brockman is the Trauma Data Manager for UCHealth Southern Colorado, where she leads regional trauma registry operations across a 10-facility network spanning Level I through non-designated trauma centers. Valerie brings more than a decade of trauma registry and quality improvement experience, with a specialization in data-driven performance improvement, outcomes analysis, and trauma program development across multi-site systems.

Valerie is an active leader within the trauma nursing community at the regional and national levels. She currently serves as a Director-at-Large on the STN 2026 Board of Directors and as Digital Editor for the Journal of Trauma Nursing. She is a nurse reviewer for Colorado Trauma Designation reviews and serves as Board Liaison to the STN Injury Prevention Special Interest Group. Valerie has been an active proponent of community-based injury prevention initiatives, including advancing awareness of Colorado's Stop the Bleed® school kit program. She holds certifications in trauma registry, injury severity coding, healthcare quality, and trauma nursing.
