Trauma is an acute injury that presents a challenge in care, especially in complex cases. The complexity of the case is not necessarily related to the severity of the injury. Trauma patients requiring blood products present a unique challenge. Calcium should be included in your mass transfusion protocol and in the overall process of Trauma resuscitation.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe the role that calcium plays during trauma resuscitation.
- Discuss calcium administration as related to mass transfusion and overall critical trauma resuscitation.
