Prehospital Blood Administration in Pediatric Patients: A Case Report
Date: Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at 12:00 PM Eastern Time
Join us for a compelling webinar exploring the life-saving impact of prehospital blood administration in a challenging pediatric trauma case. When a 7-year-old girl in a rural county suffered a gunshot wound to the chest, quick action and innovative care by EMS made all the difference. From recognizing critical signs of hemorrhagic shock to administering the first unit of blood within 15 minutes, this case demonstrates the power of rapid decision-making and advanced prehospital interventions.
Discover how this patient not only survived a massive blood loss and cardiac arrest during surgery but also made a remarkable recovery, leaving the hospital 11 days later with no deficits.
Learning Outcomes:
- Review the clinical signs and symptoms of shock in pediatric trauma patients to improve early recognition and intervention
- Identify the key triggers and criteria for initiating blood administration in prehospital trauma care
- Discuss the challenges and potential solutions for administering blood effectively in prehospital settings
