The Society of Trauma Nurses (STN) has established a Trauma Performance Improvement Special Interest Group (Trauma PI SIG), designed to bring together STN members who are responsible for trauma performance improvement initiatives within their institutions and/or interested in advancing trauma PI best practices.

**Valerie Pelin Brockman** is the Trauma Data Manager for UCHealth Southern Colorado, where she leads regional trauma registry operations across a 10-facility network spanning Level I through non-designated trauma centers. Valerie brings more than a decade of trauma registry and quality improvement experience, with a specialization in data-driven performance improvement, risk-adjusted outcomes analysis, and trauma program development across multi-site systems.

Valerie is an active leader within the trauma nursing community at the regional and national levels. She currently serves as a Director-at-Large on the STN 2026 Board of Directors and as Digital Editor for the Journal of Trauma Nursing. She is a nurse reviewer for Colorado Trauma Designation reviews and serves as Board Liaison to the STN Performance Improvement Special Interest Group. Valerie has presented regionally and nationally on trauma registry leadership and data management, and holds certifications in trauma registry, injury severity coding, healthcare quality, and trauma nursing.

**Sydney Doyle** is the Trauma Program Manager at Indianapolis’s Eskenazi Health. Her education began at St. Elizabeth School of Nursing, earning her BSN and an interest in trauma. Her career began as an Emergency Department nurse at George Washington University Hospital, where she found interest in trauma and team dynamics. Doyle is interested in performance improvement and effective collaboration within the healthcare system.
