#  When Cold Turns Critical: Examining Frostbite and it's Treatment

Join us for a comprehensive overview of the pathophysiology and clinical presentation of frostbite patients, enhanced by visual case studies. We will discuss the initial management strategies for this patient population, focusing on how to distinguish when to implement basic wound care versus the initiation of limb-saving measures, including the use of tissue plasminogen activator (TPA) and other emerging medications under investigation.

**Learning Objectives:**

- Understand the basic pathophysiology of frostbite
- Identify the initial clinical findings of frostbite patients
- Discuss pre-hospital and initial hospital management strategies of frostbite.

**Members who are logged will be provided with a CE Credit link (below) for the duration of 3 years from the original presentation date (noted above). After 3 years, CE will no longer be made available. Members however are still welcome to watch the presentation independently for non-CE credit.**

**Amber Kohler, NP-C**, has served as the Lead Advanced Practice Provider at the University of Colorado/UCHealth Burn &amp; Frostbite Center for the past eight years. She is also the National Chair of the American Burn Association's Special Interest Group for Advanced Practice Providers. With experience in Level 1 Trauma centers and rural emergency departments, Amber has a comprehensive understanding of the continuum of care required for burn and frostbite survivors, from initial field treatment to emergency and acute care, as well as the aftercare and support needed.
